PREMIERE | The Widdler Offers Dark Flip Of Mr. Bill & Sorrow’s “Golden Gate”

|||, ,

Hot off an opening set for Boogie T at Red Rocks and a surprise set at Sub.mission’s 16 Year Anniversary party, The Widdler is having himself one heck of a week. The Austin-based producer has been doing his thing for quite some time and is widely recognized as an innovator and originator of dub. Today, we’re thrilled to offer you an exclusive listen of his newest remix of Mr. Bill & Sorrow’s “Golden Gate.”

Veteran producer, DJ, and tastemaker, Mr. Bill has just announced a forthcoming full-length remix album for his latest LP titled Phantasmagorical. There’s a wide variety of collaborators set to be featured but The Widdler’s take on “Golden Gate” particularly caught our attention.

Building off of Mr. Bill & Sorrow’s glistening, downtempo production, The Widdler offers up an even darker take. An atmospheric, bass-filled palette is layered underneath a bed of pitched vocals and drum breaks until around the halfway mark where he drops into an ethereal, synth-heavy finale.

Mr. Bill’s Phantasmagorical is slated to release April 19 and will include remixes from Virtual Riot, Dirt Monkey, Player Dave, and more. For now, you can check out the exclusive premiere below. Enjoy!
