The xx seem to have shared the first taste of new music in four years. The British trio, consisting of Jaime xx and vocalists Romy Madley Croft & Oliver Sim, recently announced they are working on a new LP which would be their first release since 2012’s Coexist album.
Beyond the idea of new music coming, the group also announced a European tour kicking off at the end of Nov., and a playlist of music they've "been listening to in the studio." That playlist received an addition today which raised some eyebrows.
The new track is under the artist name "-" and is a 55 second ambient track in line with the style of The xx’s sound design. The track leads off the playlist and says that it was released under their label, Young Turks. We’re hoping this cryptic release means there’s new music coming soon. Enjoy!
