Aside from featuring London artist Tourist for his breakthrough future bass / indie song "Holding On" way back in March of 2015, he has remained relatively quiet. Previously being a behind-the-scenes player, earning writing credits on Sam Smith's grammy winning "Stay With Me," and hanging with fellow British producers Disclosure, Tourist now begins his ascent to stardom with "To Have You Back."
Serving as the lead single off his upcoming debut album U, "To Have You Back" lies on an experimental pallet of quirky sounds similar to Flume's innovative style. Though it's safe to say he's managed to create a sound like nothing we've heard before, his self-proclaimed genre "sad dance music" is carried out wonderfully on the charming single. As the song slowly builds, utilizing off-beat swings and snapping melodies, Tourist brings in more and more layers only to send the song into a brief silence, just before relinquishing the song into its full lamenting state, masterfully finding a way to convey words without saying any.
