Anderson .Paak is a busy man. He just recently put out his highly anticipated album Oxnard, won a Grammy for “Bubblin” and isn’t stopping there. Last night he joined Jimmy Fallon for a TV performance of “Trippy” and had a chat during an exciting interview where he hinted at a new soulful album, a bigger tour and more.
Anderson revealed he was in the hospital with his son before going to the Grammys, working with Dr. Dre, and even hints at a new album… After Jimmy asked if he had anything he wanted to tease, Anderson revealed he “made a lot of music with Dr. Dre, probably two albums worth. And honestly it’s the music I really feel like getting out. Oxnard was a beautiful place where I got a lot of grit I was doing a lot of rapping and growing up there we were running from security guards at the mall and slap boxing and we wanted to be rappers and do a lot of stuff. We also went to church. I went to church a lot. And the town over was a little more quiet, a little more peaceful. Uh I got into trouble a lot there too but it gave me a lot more character and soul and ya know I think I got more soul music to present.” He went on to say “It’s lots of soul, a bigger tour, and the best teeth in the game”
He also performed “Trippy” showing once again that he’s the best live performer in hip-hop. See the performance below.
We cannot wait for this one. While Oxnard was an amazing album, most of where he shines is on the soulful stuff so to say we’re excited is an understatement. Since his previous projects have been named Venice, Malibu and Oxnard, it’s safe to assume this other town he’s speaking of means there is indeed a full album coming. Stay tuned for more info Enjoy!
