Flying Lotus' forthcoming album You're Dead! serves as a concept album depicting the journey of death through musical voyage. Steven Ellison is the maestro behind Flying Lotus and he continues to push musical boundaries with his fusion of Jazz and electronic production on You're Dead!. Enlisting the talents of lyrical wizard Kendrick Lamar on "Never Catch Me", we got to hear the amazing chemistry between the two artists.
One view on the meaning of the video is it reflecting on the concept behind the album as a young boy & girl experience death and seemingly jump back to life in an energetic dance during their funeral ceremony, but remain unnoticed by those in attendance. The children have a ghostly presence as they dance out of the ceremony only to hop into the hearse and cheerfully drive away as if they've just been freed. We can only expect more collaborations between these two L.A. based legends in the making as they have expressed great excitement to be working together. Be sure to grab You're Dead when it's released Oct 7 via Warp Records.
