There’s something about making music with your friends that brings a whole new source of inspiration and life to a track. The trio of Wavedash and New Jersey artist James Ivy are no exception. Tracing their friendship to their teenage years, their dreams of releasing a track together finally comes to fruition on their newest single, “Chicago Loop.”
Beginning “purely off of the desire to make sure the weekend was not a complete waste,“ (Ivy) “Chicago Loop” turned into a rather special collaboration from this eclectic quartet. A dreamy, synth-led production begins the track, building anticipation and eagerness for what’s to come. Slowly ushering in a hip-hop inspired beat, the listener is quickly catapulted into the colorful pop melodies of Ivy, and immersed in the alternative-infused production of Wavedash. Take note of the changeup at 2:25, where the track explodes into an unexpected, magical breakbeat to close out the track.
