There’s a few things we know a Yaeji track will always deliver: whimsical samples flipped in a unique way and delightful vocals. Her latest release “PAC-TIVE,” featuring vocals from Chinese artist DiAN, brings both.
This track marks the talented producer’s first release since her official remix on Dua Lipa’s Club Future Nostalgia in 2020. Intended as a celebration of PAC-MAN’s 41st anniversary, “PAC-TIVE” is chock full of samples from the original PAC-MAN game.
While this might sound strange, it actually works perfectly, with the fast-paced PAC-MAN sounds creating a really cool beat. Yaeji kicks it up a notch by interspersing some DnB-style drums in the background. Her signature soft-spoken vocals add the cherry on top to one of the most inventive and creative tracks we’ve heard in a minute.
