“Raingurl” Producer Yaeji Returns With 12-Track Masterpiece, ‘WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던’

Yaeji is back! The Korean-American artist and mastermind behind the smash hit, “Raingurl,” has proven herself to be a very talented producer with a fantastically unique sound and live show.  Now, after a relatively quiet 2019, she has finally returned with a brand new mixtape titled, WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던, and while we knew Yaeji had something good in the works, we had no idea it would be this dope.

This latest project is an awesome demonstration of just how far Yaeji has come as an artist. Having earned a reputation for wavy, bass-driven, minimalist production and tongue-in-cheek vocals, the Brooklyn based producer demonstrates an evolved artistic mastery of sound design in WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던.

This mixtape ebbs and flows beautifully.  Some tracks like “My Imagination,” “What We Drew,” “Free Interlude,” and “Never Settling Down” take on a lush, chilled-out vibe, while others like “When I Grow Up,” “Spell,” “Waking Up Down,” and “The Th1ng” inject steady, cheeky bursts of vocal and percussive energy into the  the mix.  Then you have tracks like the trappy mid-tempo “Money Can’t Buy,” the spacey, break-beat bass boat “In The Mirror,” and the mystifying saxophone jam of “These Days,” that are simply incredible genre-bending musical explorations.

There truly is not a skippable track on this mixtape.  Yaeji really stepped up her game with this latest offering, creating a remarkably complete and eclectic project, all while maintaining that smokey abstract sound that no one does better.  We definitely suggest you set aside some time to give Yaeji’s new mixtape, WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던 a listen front to back, your ears and soul will thank you. Enjoy!
