Earlier this year, Zeds Dead announced that they’re starting a new downtempo sub-label, Altered States. The legendary duo also broke the news that they’d be releasing a Catching Z’s mixtape as the label’s first official release. In previous years, Zeds Dead have made the Catching Z’s series more of a continuous mix format meant to serve as the ultimate comedown experience. While still able to be enjoyed as a continuous mix, this time they’ve decided to release it in album form with all original and standalone tracks. They teased the mixtape a few weeks ago with their downtempo track, late night drive, and today we finally have the full Catching Z’s mixtape ready for your eager ears.
This mixtape takes us along for a bass heavy downtempo ride unlike any other, featuring a plethora of sounds and styles from Zeds Dead production bank. Ethereal meditative sounds paired with low end bass, drum n bass, downtempo, hip hop and more prove why Zeds Dead just simply can do no wrong. As if this wasn’t enough, Zeds Dead have also released an accompanying trippy ‘Visual Experience’ to go along with the entire mixtape.
