Ahead of their jampacked 4th of July Red Rocks takeover, Zeds Dead are treating fans to a new single. “I Took A Ride” is a departure from the heavier dubstep tracks we’ve seen from this duo. Here, Zeds Dead show their hand at chiller, more melodic rhythms (a la Catching Zs)
The clean production focuses on a bouncing bass line, with house-style high hats thrown on top. A haunting vocal gets the song’s main attention, with eerie inflections of synth accentuating the lyrics. This song is also a serious slow burner. Zeds Dead tease the drop for most of the song, completely cutting the production and isolating the vocals before finally hitting us with an understated but satisfying drop on the final chorus.
We can’t wait to see how this song plays out live. Regardless of whether Zeds Dead choose to hype it up with a VIP remix, or if they choose to play as-is for one of their five sets this weekend, it’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser. You can check it out using the link below. Enjoy!
