1tbsp Puts a Unique Spin on House with Impressive ‘Joan’ EP

Maxwell Byrne, popularly known as Golden Vessel, has made many appearances on our site, crafting tasty beat after the next without fail. So, when we heard he was releasing a new EP under his second alias, 1tbsp, we had to check it out.

Joan is a seamless blend of eclectic house influence and synth mastery. 1tbsp maintains a consistent theme throughout the EP, while still allowing each track to shine through unique production. The producer shows off his impressive rhythmic intuition, manipulating samples and synths to forge perfectly pocketed grooves (with the help of the drums, of course).

1tbsp shared his thoughts on the creation of the EP, commenting:

This EP is a response to the experiences I had throwing a club night in Brisbane last year, as well as my personal tastes expanding through a lot of DJing.I hosted “Sumoclic Night” with my friend Connor on a monthly basis throughout 2021, mostly operating at 50% capacity (due to covid restrictions) and also managing to dodge all the lockdowns.Through that DJing experience and listening to what other DJs from Brisbane were playing, I became more interested in dance music from across the world and inspired to create more eclectic sets of my own. I really wanted to make some music that I felt could fit what I was playing at those events and that’s where a lot of the ideas on this ep came from.

You can stream Joan at the link below, out everywhere via sumoclic. Enjoy!
