Australian Grammy-award-nominated artist, Maxwell Byrne, has returned with his second LP as 1tbsp. Known for his eclectic dance style under the 1tbsp moniker, Byrne also pioneers an equally-impressive project, Golden Vessel, where he showcases his indie rock influence. Needless to say, Maxwell has a seemingly endless amount of talent. We are pleased to share the sophomore album from his 1tbsp project, megacity1000.
After listening to this album, we would officially like to live in megacity1000, please and thank you. 1tbsp creates an immersive world around these ten tracks, maintaining a consistently engaging production style, with latin, techno, and house influence. Features on the album include Cherry Chola, Ninajirachi, Mietze Conte, and Beaks, with each artist imparting their own flavor to shake up megacity1000.
1tbsp commented on his inspiration for the album, sharing:
Over the last year, whilst I’ve been feeling creatively inspired, I’ve also often been feeling quite overwhelmed by the state of the world. Sometimes those two feelings feel very at odds with each other. Also, as I’ve been touring in different cities, I’ve become fascinated with their different approaches to handle growth, climate change & gentrification. megacity1000 is a concept dance album that acts as an advertisement for a fictional ultra-modern city that could miraculously solve all these problems.
