Atlanta rapper / singer 6LACK amazed us last year with his impressive debut album, and today he has updated Free 6LACK with three brand-new tracks to celebrate its one-year anniversary. The new bonus songs appear at the end of the album, with features from female vocalist Banks and the legendary T-Pain.
The first of the three tracks, "Glock Six" fits perfectly with the mood set by the album with its dark melodies and sparse hip-hop instrumentation. He slows it down for the second one, "In Between" featuring Banks, choosing to sing the chorus together and alternating verses with her. The voices of the two work well together, and Banks especially sounds great with the layered auto-tuned vocals. We can only imagine how excited 6LACK was to work with the man who brought auto-tune into the mainstream on "One Way" featuring T-Pain, and it shows through the quality songwriting. He holds his own for the first half of the song with his impressive lyrics and vocals, and then T-Pain comes in and further cements his legendary status with his incredible singing and attention to detail.
6LACK recently announced that he will be taking a hiatus from touring to focus on being a father to his daughter that was born this year, and that he is working on new music. We can't wait to hear that, but until then we'll be revisiting the excellent Free 6LACK with these new songs. Enjoy!
