Nigerian Rapper Acebergtm Demonstrates His Versatility on ‘Far From Home’ EP

|||

It’s not everyday we get to hear something great out of Nigeria but today just happens to be that day. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, aka Acebergtm, grew up listening to different music genres but was mainly focused on hip-hop, citing Wyclef Jean as his main source of inspiration. In tandem with music was his passion for writing and poetry, which led him to begin writing his own songs at age 15. Now ready to take on a global circuit, Acebergtm makes a strong debut with his Far From Home EP which comes out via one of Africa’s fastest-growing labels, SJW Entertainment.

The EP is a six-tracker leaning towards the more gentle sonic spectrum of rap. Drawing inspiration from J. Cole, Drake, and Burna Boy, Acebergtm displays his versatility as he goes from singing over dancehall beats like on “Rockstar” and “Bella” to delivering introspective bars on “Slow Wine” and “What I Like.” My personal favorite, “Loyal,” sees him putting all his skills together to deliver an honest deep dive into his life and struggles as an upcoming African artist. He fuses groovy melodies and gentle R&B-inspired beats to create a sound that’s great for heating up the dancefloor or simply listening to over a stiff drink.

We’ll still have to wait a little while before we’re gracing any dancefloors but for now we’ll be enjoying this EP over a nice strong cocktail. Stream Acebergtm’s Far From Home EP below and enjoy!
