Scandinavian duo anamē, made up of Marcus Schössow and Thomas Sagstad, have released their debut album Beautiful World. A partnership that has spanned two decades starting in Sweden, this album released via Anjunabeats marks a massive milestone for the pair as they continue to make their mark in the industry.
The album’s lead track “Anywhere (Road Trippin’)” is a beautiful melodic opener, while the title track “Beautiful World” infuses some intensity with the melodic alongside sensational vocals from Steve Smith of Dirty Vegas. “Hurt You” is a track several years in the making and features AN21, who is Steve Angello’s brother.
The album is very vocal and lyric heavy, and Schössow states,
“What is important for all the vocal songs we do is that the lyrics actually mean something to us. We’ve had plenty of really, really great demos from other writers, but the lyrics didn’t really touch us…… For us, that’s the most important thing. We don’t try to find the most poppy vocal. We try to find the vocals that feel like something we can stand behind every day.” Their focus on the lyrical work is very evident on Gravity, a bellowing anthem that the group states is the cornerstone of the album.”
