Music becomes so much more special when you can share it with the ones you love. For Barry Can’t Swim, that was exactly the inspiration he drew from when creating his newest single “Like The Old Days.” Influenced by his grandfather’s love of music (and his love for his grandfather), Barry reaches a whole new level of nostalgia on this upbeat tune.
Playing off an impeccably groovy disco beat and dance-inducing guitar licks, “Like The Old Days” immediately had our heads bopping. Bright piano playing and nostalgic vocal samples combine to fill our ears with nothing but good vibes- an easy crowd pleaser, without a doubt. Not one moment left us unsatisfied, Barry serving up some of his finest production nuggets and riding on the highs without overcomplicating the track.
Barry commented on the origins of “Like The Old Days,” adding:
It always felt like a track close to home… just gives off that air of nostalgia and good times and makes me think about my family and how much my life has changed the past year. My grandad is 90 years old now, and he gave me my first piano after he saw an advert in the paper for a piano that was ‘free to a good home’. Then fast-forward to this year, I was able to have him up on stage beside me at FLY festival in our hometown Edinburgh, literally on the grounds where he used to play as a kid. That full circle is just mad, and so it only felt right to use this photo of me and him as the artwork.
