BASTARD – the duo of ALEPH (Kai) and Renraku label manager Kaya – arrive with a slick new six-track EP that’s heavy, well-written, and pure bass joy. BASTARD.NFO pulls together a slew of epic distorted basslines, off-kilter rhythms, and a sense of passion for the darker corners of the general club scene.
“DOING NUMBERS,” teased back in April, sets the tone with razor sharp design elements and seriously low-end pressure “ONEONE222,” follows up, a DMVU collab that threads misty, eerie atmosphere through tight percussion and twisted textures. Both standouts with the EP, which shares four more separate works that follow.
BASTARD member’s shared history with the both scene in general and experimental bass has launched their growth and has them harnessing their strengths, in particular with both sound and visual identity.
