Billboard’s Brand New Dance 100 Series Just Legitimately Ranked Top Electronic Artists of 2018

|||

A lot of hype has been surrounding Billboard’s new Billboard Dance 100. Thought of by many as an alternative to DJ Mag’s long running Top 100 DJ list, a few weeks ago we had the pleasure of speaking with Matt Medved, the founder of Billboard Dance, to get a better feel for what we could expect from the poll. Now, after lots of data compiling, the final results of the Billboard Dance 100 Artists of 2018 are in!

Described as a “data-driven artist ranking that will give fans and industry members alike a credible and comprehensive look at the power and influence of electronic dance music's biggest names”, we’ve been looking forward to seeing the end result of Billboard’s new system. Having taken into consideration streaming, track sales, album sales radio airplay, touring data and results from a fan-voted poll consisting of nearly 180,000 votes representing 174 countries, Billboard left no rock unturned.

"The Billboard Dance 100 fills the need for a holistic, data-driven ranking of dance music’s diverse range of talents. From hit makers and club curators to hard ticket-movers, all successful artist models will find a home here." – Billboard's Director of Dance and Electronic Programming Matt Medved

The top 10 of Billboard’s Dance 100 Artists of 2018 are The Chainsmokers, Calvin Harris, Kygo, Marshmello, Major Lazer, Martin Garrix, Zedd, Tiësto, DJ Snake and ODESZA.

While some of these chart-toppers are no surprise, we’re pleased with the full list and methodology used by Billboard. The list seems to be an accurate representation of the most influential artists in the electronic space and includes many of our favorite artists throughout. Check out the full top 100 below and go here for more info on the artists and Billboard’s poll. Enjoy!
