The world’s most controversial entrepreneur Billy McFarland has a special way of reappearing in the media after a little while. Earlier this year, the Fyre Festival CEO announced Fyre Festival 2.0, leaving many skeptical about a second version of the famed failed festival.
Now, Billy has walked back his announcement by announcing the cancellation of Fyre Festival 2.0 along with some other interesting news. According to Billy, he’s been exploring unorthodox avenues for monetizing his brand and has reached an agreement to turn his story into a Broadway musical.
The working title for the Broadway show is said to be Fyre Festival 1.5 with Billy describing it as “instead of like traditional Broadway actors, it’s going to be current music artists, combined with the Broadway format of the play.”
It’s been one year since Billy McFarland finished his six-year prison sentence and with $26 million in restitution charges to his name it’s hard to know when to take him seriously or not. But one thing is clear, he’s not giving up on his “dream” and will explore every avenue he can get his hands on.
