Carla Frayman, better known as Carlita, has become one of dance music’s biggest risers and biggest sweethearts over the past few years. From her background in classical music theory, to earning her stripes going back and forth between the nightlife in Boston and New York, to a chance meeting with her mentor and now partner in crime DJ Tennis in Lisbon, the stars have aligned along the way of Carlita’s incredible musical journey in becoming one of the most well-established and talented players in the dance music scene. Today, this journey has culminated in the release of her highly anticipated debut album, Sentimental, arriving via Ninja Tune.

Sitting at 12-tracks, Sentimental sees Carlita’s musical genius shine. Known for her ability to tear up high profile slots at places like Coachella, Circoloco and Tomorrowland, or curating unforgettable club experiences through her prodigious party concept Senza Fide and her Astra Club parties alongside DJ Tennis, this album goes a different direction and sees Carlita’s refined production skills create a truly moving album. “I want fans to see a different side to me musically,” Carlita said. “I think most people come to my shows at clubs and festivals and see me playing lots of big club records but I want people to hear this album and really see a different side to me musically and be left surprised by the sound of it.”

Sentimental has had the table set by a string of stellar singles like “The Moment” with SG Lewis, “Trouble Symphony” with DJ Tennis, “Wish You Knew” and arguably the most stunning track on the album, “Time,” which has served as a closer in her sets as a truly transcendent and magical number. Newcomers include “TV Disco,” a piano and bongo infused disco-house track that is irresistible. “Falling Again” alongside classically trained guitarist and producer Mascolo is a heart-rending song of love and love lost. While “Comme Ça Voce” sees Carlita connect with her Italian roots alongside Sicilian vocalist Orofino.

Through deep driving basslines, soul-stirring synths, and contextualizing lyrics, Sentimental makes for a truly brilliant debut album from one of the most exciting players in dance music. Stream Sentimental below and enjoy!
