Top Shelf came together during our most stressful week of school, finals week. I was in my dorm room, unable to focus and procrastinating with my school work. I kept daydreaming about those sunny summer days where you just chill and enjoy life. So when you bump this track, grab a drink from the Top Shelf and savor the carefree times. – Caye
There’s something about the vibrant vibe of “Top Shelf” that just makes you want to go on a summer drive. The multi-instrumentalist, producer and rapper comes from a musical background in which he’s played piano, guitar, drums and the steel pan while growing up. He infuses all these different influences together in a bright carefree way that sets the stage for his laid back verses and catchy hooks to shine. Halfway through the song, things switch up for a slower, piano-laden beat where he shows off his lyrical verses and versatility as an artist.
