It’s no secret that we’re big Chelsea Cutler fans here at TSIS, and she has experienced a quick rise as of late. In the course of a couple years, the world has fallen head over heels for Chelsea’s instantly-relatable lyrics, lush production, and all-around passionate songwriting. 2019 has already been one for the books for the Connecticut native. Thankfully, Chelsea has also provided a steady stream of music this year with bops like “How To Be Human,” “Not OK” (Kygo collab), and her brent EP with Jeremy Zucker, and today she graces speakers everywhere with another one.
“You Are Losing Me” starts with raw unfiltered piano chords, immediately giving a feeling of wholesomeness from beat one. As she goes on to add synthesized vocal chops and some flittering chimes in the background, we take a slightly tropical turn before Chelsea’s sublime vocals begin walking us through the emotive feelings of pity for someone who breaks your heart. After building not only a musical tension, but an emotional one, we reach a catharsis as we settle into a wavy drop punctuated by a choir like chorus of melodic vocal chops atop a robust line of synth chords after Chelsea proclaims,
“You’re gonna wish that / You never broke my heart in two/ And you weren’t losing me / When I already lost you.”
I would recommend locating the nearest box of tissues, because this belter of a tune is a tear-jerker and I’m hear for every second of it. Ladies and gentlemen, we are happy to introduce Chelsea Cutler’s latest track, “You Are Losing Me.” Enjoy!
