There might only be one day left of August, but Cordae and Anderson .Paak are making the most of it. Their third collab, “Summer Drop,” captures the last remnants of warmth, reminiscing about childhood summers spent posting up on the block.
Produced by J.Cole, this song’s laidback production includes a chopped up horn sample and warm, jazzy bass guitar. It feels very old school, which fits perfectly for Cordae’s and .Paak’s nostalgic bars. They have such good chemistry on this track, swapping stories of working at the barbershop and going to church, passing the time until school resumes. This track feels golden and hazy, evoking memories of late afternoon spent lazing around in the heat.
“Summer Drop” is another chapter of Cordae’s upcoming album rollout – The Crossroads – due out later this year. Make sure to give it a listen below. Enjoy!
