Chicago’s Cozy Kev Levels Up With His Hard-Hitting ‘Let Me Breathe’ EP

Chicago’s own Cozy Kev has officially unveiled the complete EP in LET ME BREATHE. The four-track EP, signed to influential bass label Wubaholics, packs all the grit and grime one could want into a bass release, while balancing the experience with tasteful technical and excellent arrangement.

“With this project, I really aimed to blend classic bass elements with a deep futuristic sound to provide a wide range of emotional depth,” Cozy Kev states. “I still aim to keep it defined as dance music, but with a slightly more introspective feel to it.”

Getting into the weeds of LET ME BREATHE, each single stands on its own but maintains a connective root between all the tracks, creating a certain seamless flow and cohesion throughout.

GET DOWN” starts things off trippy and hits hard, led by a great hip-hop vocal that rides over massive wubs. “LET ME BREATHE” is where things get the most experimental and raw, pushing into deep, unpredictable territory with an fine-tooth edge. “MAKE ME FEEL HIGH” throws it back to a classic 2010s bass sound, delivering a hard-hitting track that undeniably has that nostalgia factor built into it. “THAT LIFE” closes things out on a slightly anthemic note, cruising the experience to a close.

The EP arrives at a unique crossroads for the producer. Having earned the support of names like LYNY, Levity, Tape B, and Peekaboo and having recently headlined Chicago’s Ramova Theatre, LET ME BREATHE, is righteously and rightfully capitalizing on the momentum of the moment.
