We can’t get enough of all things Damon Albarn, whether it be fresh releases from his legendary project Gorillaz or his latest endeavor entitled The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows.
Damon debuted 20 minutes of new music from this project on Boiler Room’s Streaming from Isolation series this past Sunday. Taking a more ambient, relaxed departure from sounds of the Gorillaz, Albarn truly showcases his wide versatility in his latest.
In the video, Damon remains seated at his piano, oftentimes wielding his acoustic guitar as well. He is backed by a fully-equipped orchestra, creating rich textures and an ultimately soothing listening experience. He reminds us in the video that the project is not finished, and is meant to be performed with many more musicians, but “it gives you an idea of what, hopefully one day, we’ll perform for you,” he says.
Whatever Damon sets his mind to, he crushes it. Check out the set below and look out for more to come from The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows.
