Two of our favorite rising artists, Darby and juuku, have joined forces on a brand new track. Out via bitbird, “Reminisce” shows the best of the Melbourne and LA-based talents.
“Reminisce” opens with swirling waves of synth, establishing a magical vibe from the drop. Rippling harp textures come together with the pitched up vocal sample, tying the the romantic threads of the song together in a whimsical bow. A high-energy UK garage style beat on the chorus is the perfect finishing detail of this track, which is meant to emulate the cutscene sequence for a video game.
Darby tells the story of their collaboration:
“Only after the song was done and we began calling regularly did juuku become one of my favourite people in the scene. I met juuku last year connecting through socials and we instantly wanted to work. I chopped up an old idea of his and he was so happy with the track that the rest came about so naturally. Him and I are both such conceptually driven people with our crafts, I think we both uplift each other’s creativity and you always need those type of friends in this industry.”
And here’s what juuku had to say:
“I’ve grown into a great friendship with Darby throughout the past year, after we worked on this song – it was one of the most fun, smooth, and quickest collabs i’ve ever had. really happy with how dreamy this one came out <3”
