Destructo has had nothing short of an impressive career thus far, collaborating with an array of musical icons and even creating his own, highly succesful festival brand, HARD. Frequently gifting his fans with singles, the producer’s last EP, Renegade, was released back in 2017. Destructo now returns with a fresh take on his sound as he throws it back to the 80s with Future Funk EP.
With a mission to pay homage to the 80s nightclub music, Destructo absolutely hit the nail on the head with the EP’s intro track “Perfect Beat.” An undeniable dance-forward beat and nostalgic synths effortlessly combine as Destructo yet again proves why he is one of the most respected dance veterans in the game. The producer teams up with TroyBoi next for funky, riff-led tune, “You’re The One For Me,” a track had us smiling and dancing along until the end. He follows it up with a collaboration with Tima Dee and Chromeo, embodying the 80s club vibe to the max, and holding absolutely nothing back. Destructo closes out the EP as one-fourth of his electronic supergroup, Misingo, laying down ecelctic piano-house vibes.
Destructo commented on the inspiration behind the Future Funk EP, commenting:
My dad ran a nightclub in New Orleans in the 80’s called the Famous – these tunes are a tribute to that era with a futuristic spin on it. I’m bringing the Funk back to House in 2023.
