Dillon Francis has long been one of the biggest tastemakers and personalities in EDM. Whether it’s performing B2B with Diplo in race suits or creating a full-on show with 20th Century Fox about his piñata friend, Gerald, he’s always pushing the envelope both on and off the stage. Dillon’s initial claim to fame was his hip-shaking moombahton hits, but in the past year he’s played around in Pop and also released an entirely Latin-inspired album.
Piggybacking on his last release, “GO OFF (Nuthin’ 2 it),” the father of modern moombahton has blessed us with yet another instant-classic, in “Bawdy” (feat. Big Freedia). This track features a classic moombah beat with Big Freedia on the mic ordering everyone to get their “Bawdys” on the dancefloor. We get the drums, and of course the drop is filled all of the horns you’d hope for in a moombah club track, especially one from Mr. Francis. The result is an infectious hit that’s almost impossible not to move your body to.
Both “GO OFF (Nuthin’ 2 it)” and “Bawdy” have the same unicorn album art set on a different colored background, meaning Dillon could have a new project in the works. If the rest of it compares to the quality of these first two tracks, I’d say we’re in for a treat. Enjoy!
