Ever since Dom Dolla started teasing this track at Coachella in April, “Cave” has been at the top of our musical wishlist. And finally, the liquid drum and bass collab with Tove Lo is here.
Against a smoldering backdrop awash with haunting strings, Tove Lo’s airy voice perfectly complement Dom’s dark production. What makes this song utterly addicting, however, is the bass. Dom balances tightly compressed glitches with a smooth, crisp percussion line, creating a hard-hitting, gritty sound. It’s a true masterclass in restraint and building tension. The first drop is just filthy, instantly stank-face inducing.
As Dom mentioned on his Instagram, this is his first time releasing music that’s not house or techno, but we absolutely love to see such a well-known producer embrace dnb, helping it reach a new audience in the US. Even skeptics of the genre will have a hard time resisting the intoxicating nature of this track.
