There has been a bit of mystery surrounding the debut of Guava Island, the new music-centered film from Donald Glover and Rihanna as fans didn’t quite know what to expect. It turns out they actually debuted the movie a day early. The movie is an Amazon Studios film and clocks in at 54 minutes. They debuted the movie on the Coachella grounds to roughly 100 fans in a “a specially constructed red metal theater with a domed ceiling,” according to Hollywood Reporter.
Guests entering the Guava Island screening party were greeted by fashionably dressed stilt dancers and Afro-Cuban drumming. Festive Cuban fare included plantains, tamales and cups filled with pineapple, watermelon and cucumber wedges dressed with spicy-sweet Bokados Chamoy sauce. Fresh coconuts imprinted with the Guava Island logo, sliced to sip the sweet coconut water, could be refreshed with rum or tequila when half-empty. Guests also received black Daydreamer LA T-shirts printed with an image of Glover and Rihanna from the film. – Hollywood Reporter
The Hero Murai-directed movie includes animation and live action while wearing in Childish Gambino songs. Fans going to Coachella will have a chance to see the film at various screenings this weekend until it hits Amazon later this weekend. Enjoy!
