We’ve been patiently awaiting the next iteration of Donald Glovers’ hit series, Atlanta. After two amazing seasons, the show is set to return for a third, and FX chief John Landgraf says we can expect it to premiere in the “first half of 2022.”
Landgraf was taking questions at the virtual Television Critics Association press tour on Friday, and confirmed that the episodes are in post-production. This means it won’t be long before the season is finalized and ready for viewing. He didn’t, however, specify an exact date that it would be released. In a lengthy quote, Landgraf said that an exact release date could be locked down “within a couple months.” He also told this to The Wrap:
[Season 3] has finished shooting. It shot primarily in Europe, actually, and it’s in post-production. But it is a lengthy post-production process on that. And part of the reason it’s like this is because they’re actually in production right now on Season 4 in Atlanta. And all of the scripts for Season 4 have been written. I absolutely adore those scripts for both seasons.
It’s been over three years since the last season of Atlanta concluded. We can’t wait to see where Glover takes us next with this one. Donald has been hyping these next couple seasons of the show a ton, claiming that only The Sopranos is a better show. It won’t be long before we’re able to see for ourselves.
