Coming straight out of the mountains of Sun Valley, Idaho, dot’s new EP Begin Again serves up 5 fantastic genre-blending tracks. Produced in those mountains and released on the iconic Mau5trap label, Begin Again flaunts dot’s production expertise from start to finish.
“stay forever” is a bewitching adventure that takes you through charming and chopped vocals and delicate crescendos. “the search” is an incredibly laid back track with beautiful airy vocals. “so good” brings in string elements that tie the fanciful and gritty elements of this one together.
As for the inspiration of the project, dot states,
“’Begin Again’ is a love letter to the producer I was 14 years ago: unjaded and full of more ideas than should reasonably belong in one artist project.” As for her wish to those listening to the EP, she says, “My biggest hope is that this music inspires any new artists to have the courage to create as themselves, for themselves. And if you feel like an outsider, go outside.”
