Dr. Fauci Says Music Venues Could Reopen This Fall

If everything goes according to plan, concerts could return as soon as fall of this year, according to top U.S. health expert Dr. Anthony Fauci.

During a virtual conference that took place this past weekend held by the Association of Performing Arts Professionals, Dr. Fauci was quoted saying the following:

If everything goes right, [concerts] will [return] some time in the fall of 2021. So that by the time we get to the early to mid-fall, you can have people feeling safe performing onstage as well as people in the audience … I think you can then start getting back to almost full capacity of seating. We’ll be back in the theaters — performers will be performing, audiences will be enjoying it. It will happen.

According to Fauci, One of the most important factors to providing a safe environment would be to implement effective ventilation systems in each venue. He went on to reference a specific German study that showed sufficient ventilation would help ensure low-to-very low transmission. He also mentioned that masks may be necessary until the population reaches herd immunity, which is about 70-80% of the population.
