Ekali has become a household name in the electronic music community with a string of successful releases and performances over the past couple of years and it’s clear that there’s no slowing down for this genre-defying producer. This time he’s teamed up Australian based, Iraqi-Syrian descent, queer singer songwriter Wafia in a beautiful collaboration, “Be Fine.”
The song highlights the emotions everyone in their life will one day experience surrounding a heartbreak so moving that it makes you pause in life to absorb all that’s happened before moving forward. Akin to Ekali’s past collaboration with Yuna in their single “Leaving,” “Be Fine” almost immediately allows you to close your eyes and completely take in the track as a smile is placed on you brought on by the moving vocals, piano and warmth synth on the chorus.
Here Ekali shows his versatility by showing a deeper, more emotional side with singles as moving as this. Combining analog sounds with both trap and emotional releases he shows to us that there really are no rules in making music aside from following what you love.
Sharing in this ideology, Wafia has presented a platform to so many people around the world. Constantly moving around through Europe and the world in her upbringing and being apart of the queer community, Wafia has been able to shed a shining light on marginalized communities and it’s clear that her heart and mind are strong. She’s recently shined on singles like “Better Not” with Louis The Child and again on “Hurts” with LTC and Whethan. Now she’s back at it sounding as great as ever with Ekali.
