Anything that Eprom gets his hands on—we want some of that. The same could be said for 1985 Music boss Alix Perez. The two producers can move mountains with their sound on their own, so it’s safe to say that when they link as bass superduo, SHADES, it’s special. Today they released a new track titled “Dark Wing” and announced a brand new album, From a Vein.
According to both Eprom and Alix Perez, they’re looking to push boundaries even further with this new project:
This album found us experimenting with new production techniques and exploring collaborations with other artists. It’s a continuation but more refined body of work and an exploration of wider sonic fields more diverse in terms of influences, including ambient, field recording, soundtracks, as well as pushing our own vision of modern electronic music. The album was primarily conceived in Portland during the onset of the pandemic, which gave us plenty of time to focus in on the music and dial it in.
Given that these two are some of the best when it comes to sound design, we can’t wait to see how this album comes out. “Dark Wing” is a great way to start us off, with blaring bass, ghostly melodies, and a particularly menacing vocal sample.
From a Vein doesn’t have an exact release date yet, but it’s slated for “late summer.” It’ll follow their previous full-length release from 2018, In Praise Of Darkness.
