Soulful veteran French producer 20syl has been a staple in the scene for years with a constant flow of great releases and recently kept things going with remixes of ODESZA’s “It’s Only” and Yael Naim’s “Walk Walk” in addition to his always strong original content including "Inertia" and his Motifs II EP. Now he’s been recruited by his fellow French producers to touch up a remix of Everdayz and Pazz’s collab “Almeria” as a part of a three track remix EP available July 1st.
He’s rearranged the original to give this new version of “Almeria” an entirely new sound. “All the remix built itself around one central element from the original track: the piano,” he says. “I tried to develop a new rhythmic identity around this sound increase the soul color while keeping a modern dynamic.” 20syl has has injected his signature use of glitchy vocal chops with vocoder and pitch distortions spliced with bright, bouncing synth melodies we can’t get enough of.
