Earlier this year, Flume surprised us with his impromptu mixtape, Things Don’t Always Go The Way You Plan, containing a collection of songs found across a handful of his old laptops. Clearly he’s been sitting on a ton of unreleased music because he’s just surprised us yet again with another mixtape titled Arrived Anxious, Left Bored.
The beauty of these spontaneous mixtape releases is that they all seem to be produced over a range of years. The result is a varied body of work that spans Flume’s older sound with his more modern style. “n1cevib3 1.3” is the oldest stamped track on the mixtape and is definitely reminiscent of the ethereal, melodic era of Flume and Skin. The most recent track, “No Other 1.2.2,” evokes more of a vocal-led, hazy sound much more akin to Palaces.
With Arrived Anxious, Left Bored being Flume’s second mixtape of the year, there’s no telling how much more, if any, music is still waiting to be released. Stream the mixtape below and enjoy!
