Fox Stevenson has been beloved by old school early 2010s ravers who were crate-digging for something more than the mainstream, as well as a new generation of fans who are open to experiencing good music.
A new album is something that’s been missing from the Fox Stevenson discography for a good while. It sort of situationally cements his footing in who he is and what he does as we land squarely in the mid-2020s.
As someone aware of and fond of Fox Stevenson since 2014, I can say Sunk Cost Fallacy comes with the completeness that one would want, challenging the standards of even the most hard-nosed Stan SB fans, who can be the most strict in criticism.
The core of Fox is fun, light, brightness, growth, positivity, struggle, it’s the brightness of life and the explosion of emotions sadness can provide. That very essence is found in this album, but brought to a beautifully seasoned, matured standing.
Songwriting, hooks, mastering quality, arrangement prove that the whole lot is just that ‘next level up.’ The happy songs are there, the songs that transition an album naturally from song to song are on cue, the moody songs to give it perspective. It’s all Fox, and it’s all love.
This release marks a special milestone personally and a full-circle moment where an artist you’ve loved for over a decade gets better over time.
