Just when we think the hype around Fred Again..‘s triumphant Actual Life 3 album is calming down, he hits us with another surprise. Yesterday the prolific producer released Actual Life 3 Piano (January 1 – September 9 2022), which includes piano covers of tunes from the album.
While we’ve known that Fred Again.. is a talented musician, his ability to craft stunning compositions never fails to amaze us. Each song on this EP is simply the piano chords and vocal sample the song is structured around. On the album, the actual musical performance on each track is easier to overlook because we’re distracted by the energetic beats Fred pairs them with. Here, in its scaled-back form, it’s impossible to ignore, and it’s beautiful in its simplicity.
