It’s been five long years since Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs teamed up with the legendary producer Madlib to release one of the rawest hip-hop albums of the decade, Pinata. Hip-hop fans everywhere gave the project extremely high praise, and once the duo announced the follow-up album (back in 2016), Bandana, hype began to build quickly.
Today, we finally get the first single from Bandana, and it’s bolstered all the excitement that’s been building over the past few years. “Flat Tummy Tea” shows the hip-hop world that Freddie and Madlib are one of the most lethal duos in the game. Not only is Freddie already one of the best MCs right now, but he and Madlib reach new levels when they work together. The synergy between these two is unreal.
The single clocks in under three minutes, but Freddie wastes absolutely no time at all, hopping into a verse from the first second.
