We may have just found our new favorite experimental bass album. G Jones delivers some of the best work of his ten-year career on his sophomore album, Paths. Sit back, relax, and put your headphones on – you’re going to want to listen to this one all the way through.
G Jones’s unique take on experimental bass never gets old. Jones begins the LP with a melody-forward intro, setting an anticipatory mood and getting us hype for the rest of the album. Melodic interludes serve as beautiful punctuation to the producer’s bass-forward tracks throughout the album, allowing the listener to enjoy an extremely well-rounded listening experience. Jones experiments with a variety of styles and genres, consistently increasing the bpm of every track as the album progresses.
G Jones commented on his upcoming Paths live show, sharing:
I’ve been working on the Paths Live show all year, remixing and reformatting songs from Paths as well as the rest of my catalog for live performance, and also doing multi-day IRL work sessions with my team of visual collaborators, building this new show from scratch. I can hardly contain my excitement about it all. I’ve been discovering so many new ways to perform my songs in a live context, and really believe that the audiovisual aspect of the show will be far beyond anything we’ve done before.
