Gallant‘s third studio album, Zinc, is on its way! Arriving in just about a month, Gallant graciously shares with us yet another single from the sure-to-be impressive LP. This is “Crimes of Compassion.”
Within the span of one minute and thirty nine seconds, Gallant delivers a powerful, immersive audio-visual experience. “Crimes of Compassion” focuses on the “cyclical nature” of relationships, as Gallant touches on themes of heartbreak and lust, which all of us can relate to. Accompanying the short, but entirely attention-grabbing track, is an emotive music video portraying the lengths Gallant would go to for his relationships.
Gallant shared the meaning behind “Crimes of Compassion,” commenting:
I was talking about relationships and how one thing that poisons a particular relationship could come back in the next relationship—whether it’s with a friend, family member, or romantic partner, I was trying to diagnose the issue and speak to the cyclical nature of it all. Musically, it follows an emotional arc, tracing different touchpoints of a relationship. You have to fix the issue before it manifests again.
