Gallant has one of the most sultry sounds in R&B. The Grammy-nominated artist has begun the rollout of his third studio album, Neptune, and we’re loving what we’re hearing so far. The most recent single is the soothing but emotional “Relapse.”
Gallant was aiming for a specific vibe on this track, and we think he hit the bullseye:
I wanted to be able to escape to something that felt like the middle of summer break when school’s out and you don’t have to keep track of the days anymore. Something you can keep going back to that seems like it was made for you and only you. Like the safety of that one song you found buried deep in the tracklist of that new album you just got. Something that won’t ever leave you and is finally fully yours.
There’s something about this tune that just really hooks you in. Gallant’s voice is flawless as always, and the swelling production in the track feels like the music just washes over you.
