Longtime TSIS favorite, Gramatik, has had a hand in a number of different endeavors over the past few years. Some related to music, some related to the crypto & NFT spaces. At the core though, he still remains one of the godfathers of electro soul and has reminded us of that with his latest release, “No Place Like NYC,” out now via Lowtemp.
The track, a flip of James Brown’s iconic “Down And Out In New York City,” has been played out in Gramatik’s live sets for a few years now. It’s taken a long time to get the sample approved for DSPs but it was definitely worth the wait. We can hear that vintage sound of funk, soul, hip-hop, and swagger that first launched Gramatik’s legendary career.
