GRiZ – Can’t Hold Me Down” (Ft. Tash of the London Souls) : Must Hear Collaboration + New Album Announce

||, |, ,

GRiZ’s album is just around the corner! He’s announced the upcoming LP is titled Good Will Prevail and will arrive Sept. 23 via his own All Good Records. In addition to this exciting news, he’s been kind enough to share the project’s second single and standout track, “Can’t Hold Me Down” featuring Tash of London Souls, which is sounding different from anything we’ve heard GRiZ do the past.

The TSIS regular is fresh off “Before I Go”, alongside frequent collaborator Leo Napier, his first offering since his Chasing The Golden Hour mixtape last fall. "Can't Hold Me Down" embodies a raw, edgy approach as GRiZ receives an assist from Tash of London Souls, a New York Rock duo that have become known for their high-energy, classic rock sound. The unlikely collaboration finds hard hitting, classic rock guitar riffs and excited vocals placed in conjunction with GRiZ’s energetic sax solo and signature, gritty bass.

Good Will Prevail’’s tracklist spans 13 tracks and includes the hit “Good Times Roll” (Ft. Big Gigantic) and recent single “Before I Go” (Ft. Leo Napier). His fifth studio album finds additional contributions from Sunsquabi, Brasstracks, Eric Krasno, and more. Much of the album was recorded while touring as he utilized studios everywhere from his Colorado home to New Orleans, Hollywood Hills, and Detroit’s iconic Tempermill Studios among others.

GRiZ can always be counted on to spread a positive message, and that’s exactly what we have with “Can’t Hold Me Down”. Read about the song from GRiZ himself:

"Politics, the news, senseless deaths… got me feelin' pretty helpless recently. I wrote Can't Hold Me Down as a piece of motivation for those who are feelin' down and struggling in their lives.

I saw a live performance video of Tash playing and knew instantly we had to work together. I wrote the demo and sent it his way. What I got back was magic. Tash is perfect on this tune.

Don't curse the darkness, be a light. Be the force that pushes others to keep their heads high and stay inspired. Stand up for what you believe in at all costs. Never give up on people.”
