The foot is on the gas for one of EDM’s favorite guys, GRiZ. After a two-year hiatus, the Denver-based sax-playing lovable producer is on a roll. With the release of his March EP GEMiNI, marking a sonic foreshadowing for the return of GRiZ, he has since dropped his brooding collab with Wooli “Chaos Theory” and his loaded mixtape Sidequest Vol. 1. Today, we receive the latest in GRiZ’s immaculate return rollout with “Coast 2 Coast”, an electrifying collab with the legend Flowdan.
“Coast 2 Coast” is undeniably awesome. The track sees GRiZ dip into the heavier side of his production with heady production and a screeching melody that gives instant bass face. Add in Flowdan’s unmistakable voice, with a gritty and rumbling tone that makes this track the banger it is. This track originally was an instrumental from GRiZ, built around a Flowdan sampled vocal from Sammy Virji’s track “Shellaverse,” after playing it out and gaining traction, Flowdan recorded an entirely original topline for the song making it the release it is today.
As part of the return of GRiZ, he will be making his first performance back at his Seven Stars Festival in Arrington, VA October 10-12 alongside Hamdi, Subtronics, Levity, Disco Lines and more. He will also be performing in Chicago and San Francisco that month as part of his Re:Connect show series.
