It’s no secret that the French have a unique take on house music. From Daft Punk to Tchami, the French have always driven innovation in the genre. Habstrakt has been one of the most prominent and dynamic producers out of France for over a decade now, spanning genres from dubstep and drum n bass, and recently helping drive the bass house explosion.
His latest release is “Gotta Be,” a driving and provocative bass house banger. The track combines a captivating vocal with Habstrakt’s gritty, sub bass driven production. The track begins ominously, with a mysterious vocal atop looming bass, slowly driving upwards towards a release of pent up energy. That rumbling bass gives way to a bouncy bassline and slapping percussion on what is an irresistibly groovy drop.
