When Mac Miller’s untimely death occurred this past fall we truly lost a one-of-kind, wonderful human and integral member of the hip-hop community. That’s not all though. We also lost a lot of amazing music that will never see the light of day. Mac was undoubtedly sitting on a ton of music we’re hoping we get to hear someday. It’s unclear how much of this will ever see the light of day, but an unreleased song titled “Benji The Dog” has just surfaced and it’s quite the treat.
The song samples “Benjie” by Valerie Simpson and is in a similar lane as his final album SWIMMING. This is apparently from 2015 but we’re just hearing it for the first time now. The song touches on some of the more serious topics found in many of Mac’s lyrics while maintaining an uplifting, promising vibe. The piano intro and vibrant production showcases Mac’s ability to craft some of the smoothest productions out there. This makes me miss Mac even more but I’m glad to hear it. Check out the song below and enjoy!
UPDATE: The song has officially been released as an 88-Keys track “That’s Life” featuring Mac Miller and Sia. Check out the full story here and the song below.
