Odd Mob and OMNOM are back again and this time are making their biggest splash yet with their 4-track EP, The Unexplained. The EP comes via Insomniac Records and is released under their collaborative alias HYPERBEAM. After the duo captivated the scene last fall with their collaboration “Losing Control” you didn’t think it could get any better, but it absolutely did with this EP.
The Unexplained isn’t just a dropbox for some throwaway tracks they made in the studio together, it is a high quality EP. Dark, groovy, trippy, and cutting-edge the EP sees Odd Mob and Omnom’s styles blend to perfection. With elements of tech house, bass house, blog house, and techno all packed into this high-energy and high-paced project it is a must listen if you’re a house music lover. The previously released “All Day, All Night” leads off the project strong, while newcomers “Reading My Mind” with Sarah de Warren and “Okay Fine” are out of this world good.
On the EP, OMNOM had this to say:
“The whole mentality behind HYPERBEAM has always been for us to just have fun with it. All of it really just stems from us trying to create something very new and different from what people have come to expect from our solo projects both sonically and visually.” He adds, “I’ve never been part of a duo, so the whole creative and touring process has been very refreshing for me, and I’ve learned so much since we started working together. We always manage to have a good laugh in the studio and somehow we always end up writing some crazy shit… you can’t really ask for more than that.”
