It seems like IMANU can do no wrong. No matter what musical direction he goes in – whether he’s rocking out with bass legends or collaborating with grime artists – he always holds his own on a track. Out via Deadbeats, his newest release “Aching (On A High)” further solidifies his ability to nail just about any sound.
While the previous releases from IMANU have demonstrated his penchant for explosive bass heavy bangers, he flexes his versality on the softer “Aching (On A High).” Imanu’s signature futuristic synth revs up in the background as lia‘s haunting voice washes over.
He shows remarkable restraint on the drum beat, adding just enough to create tension on the track. It does break the surface on the chorus, as the falsetto vocals cut to give way to a raw, emotionally charged bass drop. The faint glitch textures are the perfect finishing touches.

“With Aching (On A High), I wanted to make a looming dark house track, something you could play at home or in a dark warehouse. Emotional vocals with dark reeses and pads has always been something I’ve loved doing, and I’m happy to continue this trend on this new single.”
